Detailed Itinerary
Day 1-Machame Gate – Machame Camp
After breakfast, drive from Moshi to Machame Gate for registration and a trek briefing. Begin your hike through the lush rainforest, where you may spot black-and-white colobus monkeys and colorful birds. Arrive at Machame Camp in the afternoon for dinner and your first night on the mountain.
Day 2 - Machame Camp – Shira Camp
Leave the rainforest behind and ascend through moorland with spectacular views of Mount Meru and the Shira Plateau. The landscape becomes more open as you gain altitude before reaching Shira Camp.
Day 3 - Shira Camp – Lava Tower – Barranco Camp
Today's trek follows the "climb high, sleep low" principle, helping your body acclimatize. Hike to Lava Tower (4,630 m) for lunch before descending to the scenic Barranco Camp beneath the impressive Barranco Wall.
Day 4 - Barranco Camp – Karanga Camp
After breakfast, climb the famous Barranco Wall, one of the most exciting sections of the route. Continue through alpine valleys and ridges before arriving at Karanga Camp for the afternoon.
Day 5- Karanga Camp – Barafu Camp
Continue your ascent through alpine desert to Barafu Camp, the base camp for your summit attempt. Spend the afternoon resting, eating well, and preparing your equipment before an early night's sleep.
Day 6 - Barafu Camp – Uhuru Peak – Mweka Camp
Around midnight, begin your summit climb under the stars. Reach Stella Point before continuing to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. Celebrate your achievement and enjoy breathtaking sunrise views before descending to Barafu Camp for a short rest, then continue to Mweka Camp for your final night on the mountain.
Day 7 - Mweka Camp – Mweka Gate – Moshi
Descend through the rainforest to Mweka Gate, where you'll receive your summit certificate. Meet your driver and transfer back to your hotel in Moshi for a well-deserved rest or onward travel.
